"Tasted blind. Meat and two veg – serious stuff! – on the nose. Lively and with admirably fresh fruit in evidence." - Jancis Robinson

- Chateau Pichon-Longueville Baron 2003 75cl
"On opening: Dark crimson still. Though the rim is decidedly pale already. Introvert and a bit closed on the nose. But attractive sweetness on the palate - just not very intricate in terms of flavours and with some dry tannins on the finish. I can't really see this ever shedding those dry tannins and acquiring real interest. I hope I am proved wrong. I initially gave it 16.5. From the decanter two hours later, with grouse: The wine was transformed. Beautifully expressive, the tannins much rounder, the whole thing quite supple enough. Instructive!" - Jancis Robinson

"Deep crimson. Looks more youthful than the 1994. Fireworks fragrance. A little gentler and suppler than the 1998. Softening. Very correct and very typical." - Jancis Robinson
When to drink: 2005 to 2017
