CHÂTEAU BEYCHEVELLE

beychevelle

The "Versailles of the Médoc” is a tribute to the elegant classical architecture and French gardens of Chateau Beychevelle. The château has 250 hectares of land, about 90 of which are planted with vines on deep, Garonne-gravel soil. The vineyard has a winegrowing tradition dating from the Middle Ages.

Beychevelle’s history is a long and rich one. The château's character has been tempered by three centuries of history in the hands of several powerful families, influential in the economic, political, and cultural life of the Bordeaux area.

Château Beychevelle is a Saint-Julien Classified Growth, combining elegance with character and finesse with balance. Its lovely, ruby-red colour, fine structure, and subtle bouquet have earned this wine a high reputation all over the world. More modern selection, winemaking, and ageing techniques also contribute towards the finished wine's perfection.

From the front steps of the Château, visitors can see the proximity of the Gironde river. The famous gravelly hilltops of the Médoc, close to the Gironde, offers the best conditions for the classic Bordeaux varietals. The heart of the vineyard is located on two plateaus of deep Garonne gravel from the Gunzian period, on the edge of the Gironde, providing ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon.

Walking in the gardens of Château Beychevelle, visitors can enjoy a trip back in time through the château’s three centuries of history. Visitors can also participate a guided tour to the new winery whose design in special honour to the Duke of Epernon, inspired by the world of sailing boats. It is fascinating to visit the château and join the tour “The Secrets of the Winegrower”. Guided by a member of the Château Beychevelle team, wine lovers can learn about the Château’s history and the vineyard and enjoy the amazing “total immersion” experience in the winery and cellars. The tour ends with a fabulous tasting of four of Château Beychevelle’s wines.
